Overview
Frame is a retail display system designed for pop-up shops and rotating installations. Every component interlocks mechanically — no screws, no tools, no instructions longer than one page. We designed the system, prototyped extensively, and managed sheet metal production.
Challenge
Retail displays are typically either cheap and disposable or expensive and permanent. The client needed something reusable across hundreds of setups without degrading, yet affordable enough for emerging brands. Assembly had to be intuitive enough for untrained retail staff working under time pressure.
Approach
We designed a tab-and-slot system from powder-coated steel sheet. Each joint uses a quarter-turn lock that provides structural rigidity while remaining hand-operable. The system uses only four unique parts that combine into 12 standard configurations and unlimited custom arrangements. Parts nest flat for shipping in a single box per display unit.
Outcome
Frame has been deployed in over 500 retail installations across 15 countries. Average assembly time is 2 minutes 40 seconds — verified across 200 timed setups with first-time users. The system has survived an average of 80+ assembly cycles per unit with no structural degradation.
