Overview
As part of Husky's ongoing EHS program, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) is a mandatory safety assessment all technicians must complete. Due to COVID and other constraints, Husky was having difficulty getting everyone assessed for this crucial safety procedure. We developed an XR tool for LOTO that allowed training and assessments to be delivered around the clock, remotely, and in trainees' native language.
Challenge
Traditional LOTO training required on-site presence and significant travel and scheduling overhead. With 250+ technicians across multiple locations, the logistical burden was substantial. The solution needed to match or exceed the quality and rigor of in-person training while being accessible from anywhere.
Approach
We built an immersive XR simulation that replicated the physical machinery and procedures in a safe, virtual environment. Trainees could practice assembly, maintenance, and overhaul procedures with realistic scenarios and interactive elements. The platform supported multiple languages and could be accessed 24/7, removing scheduling constraints entirely.
Outcome
100% LOTO compliance achieved in the first year — the best results in the organization's long history. Millions saved on travel & expense. 250+ technicians remotely assessed. 275% more confident to apply skills after training. 43% reduction in workplace injuries. 4X faster than classroom learning.
